Many wrestlers get the chance to work for a variety of promotions throughout their careers, and while their in-ring abilities tend to be the same throughout them, their gimmicks often differ. Wrestlers like to shake things up, creating different personalities to stand out and stay fresh.

Because of that, many of the current Impact Wrestling roster members are working in a unique gimmick right now in comparison to what they have done previously during their time in the business. For some of them, it is vastly different and that can work in their favor at times, as it has done with many talents who now appear like even bigger stars.
10 Sami Callihan
Sami Callihan is one of the top stars on the Impact Wrestling roster, being someone who works in an extremely violent style. Competing in a brutal manner with weapons, taking no nonsense is what has got him over as a main event player for Impact, but he worked a very different gimmick beforehand.
During his stint with WWE working under the name of Solomon Crowe, he worked a very different character as he was a hacker who would mess around with entrances and graphics, which never quite got over.
9 PCO
PCO is a veteran of the Impact Wrestling roster, being someone that has achieved a lot in the business, with his current character being that of a psychotic monster who just likes to compete in an aggressive manner. It's a character that has worked well for him, particularly when he was in Ring Of Honor.

However, at the start of his career, his character was vastly different, as he worked as Carl Ouellet, being one half of The Quebecers. The gimmick was more serious and it didn't quite push things to the level that he does today.
8 Matthew Rehwoldt
Matthew Rehwoldt is better known to most wrestling fans as Aiden English, which was the name he used during his WWE career where he was a vastly different character. In WWE, he was always pushed using his singing abilities, whether that was in the early stages of his NXT career or again in Rusev Day.
Nowadays, Rehwoldt puts his focus on being a broadcaster, with the experienced wrestler one of the Impact Wrestling commentators. This is the next stage of his career in the business, and that is a vastly different spot for him to be in.
7 Chelsea Green
Chelsea Green's best moments have come in an Impact Wrestling ring, particularly during her original run with the company when she worked the mixed personality gimmick. However, during her WWE run, she focused on a different character once again, particularly with her time in the Robert Stone Brand.
Her character was more focused and not quite as sporadic as it had been in Impact previously, but due to injuries, it wasn't something that the company ever truly got behind, which ultimately led her back to Impact.
6 Mickie James
Mickie James has spent a lot of time working for WWE and Impact Wrestling, and for each company, she has had quite distinctively different gimmicks. For Impact, she taps into the Hardcore Country aspect of her life, which is more related to the music career that she has away from the ring.
In WWE her character is typically more psychotic, which is something that she pushed a lot during her original run with the company which helped her to become a legendary name in the business.
5 Mike Bennett
Mike Bennett is an exciting talent who puts together great matches with his technical qualities inside of the ring, and that is something that makes him easy to watch. In Impact Wrestling, Bennett has the chance to push himself to the top of the roster and become a major star.

He is a far more serious star in Impact than he was during his WWE days, which was an example of how he could be used completely differently. That time saw his gimmick be entirely built around love and romance, which is one that never got off the ground.
4 Brian Myers
Brian Myers is also in a similar situation to Mike Bennett in the sense that he is used as a more serious wrestler in Impact Wrestling, and it has been refreshing for fans to see him used in that manner. During his time in WWE, he was used in a very different way, whether he was working as an Edgehead or as a more comedic talent.
Myers also put together one of the longest losing streaks in WWE history, which is a vastly different style of a character from how he has been getting used in Impact Wrestling.
3 Steve Maclin
During Steve Maclin's WWE career he wasn't used as frequently as he is in Impact Wrestling right now, and that stopped him from truly showcasing what he was capable of inside the ring. Instead, he was used as a tag team talent more than anything, being placed in the Forgotten Sons faction.
In Impact Wrestling Maclin gets a lot of in-ring time to showcase that he is truly one of the most skilled stars around, and that is a vastly different style of presentation in terms of the sheer seriousness of the character.
2 Doc Gallows
Doc Gallows has been pushing a similar gimmick to what he is doing right now for many years, with his Bullet Club character being something that he began in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He had a similar run when being involved in WWE alongside Karl Anderson, but before that, he was vastly different.

His original run in WWE saw him take on a unique character that was different from anything else he has ever done, as it was Gallows who took on the Festus character. It's one that likely wouldn't work in today's day and age, but it did get given plenty of focus at the time.
1 Heath
Heath is someone that is well known for his time in WWE, and even though he did start out as a serious heel by being part of the Nexus faction, the majority of his career was spent being comedic. Whether he was a member of 3MB or pushing the fact he had kids to pay for, which kept him in a featured spot throughout his run.
Heath was brilliant at adding energy and charisma to everything he did, and that was what made him so popular. However, things have been different in Impact Wrestling, as the company has presented him in a far more serious manner.
