Commentary is a big part of professional wrestling and when done right, it can take a good match to a whole new level. While the majority of the calls that the commentators make do get forgotten, in the moment they are crucial to building the story and adding further layers of detail to everything that happens.

Some commentary calls become so iconic that fans still shout them to this day, proving just how great a good comment can be. However, on the flip side, there can be some calls that end up being embarrassing, which actually do more harm than good to the match itself, or programming in general.

10 "For The Love Of Mankind"

Shane McMahon Hell in a Cell jump

Michael Cole is someone who has often come under fire from wrestling fans for his commentary work. One line that audiences were embarrassed by is when he screamed, "for the love of Mankind" after Shane McMahon crashed through the announce table at WrestleMania 32.

Because he launched himself from the top of the Hell in a Cell, the links to Mick Foley's epic moment were clear. However, the line was cheesy and the fact he could actually be seen holding the script he was reading from during such an epic moment really diluted the impact.

9 "It's Boss Time"

Sasha Banks on commentary

This is another comment from Michael Cole and it's one that he makes on a weekly basis. Anytime Sasha Banks makes her entrance, Cole can be heard screaming out this line which really takes away from any cool factor that the Legit Boss has.

It's something that might have been acceptable a couple of times, but because Cole has continued to do it on a regular basis it has become rather embarrassing, with fans wishing it would stop.

8 "Well Look Who's Back"

X-Pac returns

Jim Ross is often considered to be one of the greatest announcers of all time, but even he has poor moments. When X-Pac returned to WWE it should have been treated in a huge way as it was a big deal.

He was jumping from WCW to WWE and this was a great win for the company. However, Jim Ross was incredibly relaxed about it, with his one-liner not exactly pushing the excitement factor.

7 "Listen To The WWE Universe, Let's Go Sheamus"

Jerry Lawler

WWE often likes to force its own ideas down the fan's throats, especially when it comes to who is a heel and babyface. At No Way Out in 2012, the audience was clearly rooting for Dolph Ziggler and cheering for him, which wasn't the plan.

In a bid to distract the audience at home, Jerry Lawler tried to make it seem like they were chanting for Sheamus, despite the fact that those two names sound nothing alike, which led to an embarrassing moment.

6 "I'm Glad He's Been On The Treadmill"

Howard Finkel returns at Survivor Series 2011 Cropped

Howard Finkel is the greatest announcer in wrestling history, and CM Punk using him as his personal ring announcer at the 2011 Survivor Series event was an epic moment. Howard did a tremendous job and the fans went crazy for it, but commentary spoiled it.

While Booker T was praising The Fink for how good he was, Michael Cole was there to embarrassingly mock him, poking fun at his appearance which isn't what was needed in the moment.

5 "Holy Bleep"

JBL & Mauro Ranallo Commentating SmackDown

Everyone knows that WWE is a PG product, but pointing that out as much as possible doesn't actually help the product. That was what made Mauro Ranallo's "holy bleep" comments quite embarrassing.

The former NXT commentator was fantastic for the most part, bringing a lot of energy and excitement. But rather than using different words, Mauro pointed out the fact that the company couldn't swear didn't help.

4 "Just Get On With It. This Season Can't End Early Enough"

Michael Cole hates NXT

The NXT game show era wasn't a strong one, and the episodes weren't always great to watch. However, when the product is bad, that's when commentators have to really step up and help, but that wasn't the case with Michael Cole and Josh Matthews.

During the third season finale, the two of them simply mocked the entire episode whenever anything was happening. Cole even spoke about how he wanted the show to be over, which won't make fans buy into the product.

3 "John Cena Is Free"

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham

One of the basic things that fans expect from the commentary is for them to get things accurate. The calls they make should always be right so fans can understand, but at Survivor Series 2010, that isn't what happened.

Randy Orton defeated Wade Barrett which meant that John Cena was set to be fired. However, Matt Striker screamed that Cena was free, having to be corrected by Michael Cole which took away from the end of the match.

2 "With All Due Respect, He's Suffering From Anal Bleeding"

Michael Cole

Injuries happen in wrestling, and because of that WWE often makes up fake injuries to enhance storylines. When Mark Henry destroyed Jerry Lawler on Raw in 2011, that's what WWE did.

However, rather than giving Lawler a standard injury, WWE went down this road with Michael Cole having to deliver the incredibly awkward and embarrassing line. It caught everybody off guard, to the point that even Booker T responded by simply saying, "What?" It was absolutely ridiculous and completely unnecessary.

1 "It's Christian"

Christian ECW Champion

The return of a legend in wrestling should always be met with utter excitement from the commentary table. However, when Christian returned to WWE and joined ECW, Todd Grisham provided anything but that.

He just muttered, "It's Christian," with absolutely zero interest. While Matt Striker tried to salvage things after by calling it an instant classic, the situation had already been spoiled by Grisham's complete lack of interest.
