FTR is a professional wrestling tag team comprised of members Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood. The duo has worked for multiple wrestling promotions together including WWE, All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. Harwood and Wheeler have held tag team gold in all four of those promotions plus a championship reign with Ring of Honor as well.

FTR is considered one of the best tag teams in professional wrestling history, ranking number one on Pro Wrestling Illustrated's inaugural PWI Tag Team 50 list. They are similar to tag teams of the late 80s and early 90s like The Midnight Express and Brain Busters, both are huge influences to the duo. While it is well known their accolades since joining AEW and working around the world, let's take a look at some of the things you might not know about their lives outside the land of the Elite.

10 Where They Worked Before WWE

Both Dax and Cash would have decent-length careers before making their way to WWE's developmental brand, NXT. Dax would have time working with multiple NWA-affiliated brands like CWF Mid-Atlantic plus a stint with Pro Wrestling Zero1.

Cash would work for his fair share of promotions as well including Dragon Gate USA and the Hardy brother-owned promotion OMEGA. They both would have different names as well with Cash being Steven Walters and Dax being KC McKnight.

9 Their Inspirations

The Midnight Express

Dax and Cash have both talked very openly about the wrestlers who have inspired them to start their careers. The duo loves old-school tag team wrestling with the likes of The Midnight Express, Brain Busters, and The Hart Foundation.

Bret Hart is a massive inspiration to the Top Guys, with them getting to meet Hart and even have him accompany them to the ring for a show with Big Time Wrestling. FTR also wear gear inspired by the favorites including The Hart Foundation, nWo, and Brain Busters.

8 Real Names

Their current ring names are a mixture of their real names and homages to the WWE tag team Demolition. Dax Harwood's name is David Harwood, with the Dax coming from Ax. While Cash is named Daniel Wheeler, with the Cash part coming from Smash.

Plus their pre-NXT indie names, they've also wrestled under the names Scott Dawson (Dax) and Dash Wilder (Cash) while working for the WWE.

7 North Carolina

HHH And FTR

While not becoming a tag team until their time in WWE's NXT brand, both men were born and raised in North Carolina. Cash would be born in Asheville while Dax was born in Whiteville. The two cities would be just 4 hours and 30 minutes away from each other with Charlotte right in between.

Stars would align however for the North Carolina boys when they both arrived at NXT in 2012 and 2014, thus joining together and becoming The Revival.

6 The Boss 'N' Hug Connection

FTR would make some really good friends during their times with WWE and AEW. One of their best and closest friends being that of Mercedes Mone, f.k.a. Sasha Banks, and Bayley. The group would start in NXT together and make their way to the main roster later on.

Bayley and Naomi would be backstage to support their friends with Mercedes and FTR both making their New Japan debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 earlier in the year.

5 Video Game Debut

The tag team would make their first video game appearance in WWE 2K17 as The Revival. The game would also feature many of their heroes and NXT peers, so you could recreate classic matchups or even create dream ones.

The two would appear in WWE video games consistently during their tenure before leaving and appearing lastly in WWE 2K20. The two admitted they wouldn't be a part of the upcoming AEW Fight Forever video game either.

4 Friendship With CM Punk

Both members of FTR would prove to have a great relationship with former AEW World Champion CM Punk. The trio would have a few on-screen appearances together and even have backstage plans to become a faction.

CM Punk has been quite quiet since his absence from AEW, Harwood, and Wheeler would on occasion speak about the situation between the promotion and Punk. They spoke with Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN about the issues between the two.

3 Dax Harwood Early Ring Of Honor Career

Long before Dax and Cash would become the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions, Dax would have a brief stint alongside the long-running promotion. Dax, under his name KC McKnight, would have a one-off match at Ring of Honor's The Big Bang event in 2010.

Harwood would team alongside Mr. Ernesto Osiris and Zack Sabre Jr. in a losing effort against The Bravado Brothers and Grizzly Redwood in the dark match of the show.

2 Dax Harwood's Family

Dax Harwood has proven time and time again that he is very family oriented. Dax has a wife who he has been with since 2012 and together the two have a little daughter. Harwood posts on social media about his family constantly and takes a large amount of time away from wrestling to keep around his wife and kid.

Cash Wheeler has an amazing relationship with his tag partner's family. Harwood seems like a perfect example of a professional wrestling parent.

1 The Mechanics

Before becoming huge names in the wrestling business and even NXT itself, the duo started off as The Mechanics. The team would come to fruition once Wheeler joined WWE in 2014 quickly pairing alongside Harwood.

In October 2015, they would drop The Mechanics name and wrestle just as Dash and Dawson before picking up The Revival name before joining the main roster in early 2016 at the WWE event Roadblock.
