There was no hotter woman during the Attitude Era than Sable. Considered by many to be WWE's original Diva, the blonde bombshell captivated audiences whenever she stepped into the ring. Sable had the looks, athleticism, and charisma to make it as a top female star in the 90s.

Her popularity grew as Women's Champion and soon she gained mainstream attention. She became the first WWE Diva to pose for Playboy with her 1999 pictorial. But it's Sable's wrestling that fans will always remember her for. Like many wrestlers, Sable had plenty of confusing moments throughout her career. So for today's piece we'll look at a few things that don't make sense about Sable's career.
9 Partnership With A-Train
Sable's served as valet for a few wrestlers throughout her WWE career. When she returned to the company in 2003, Sable developed a partnership with A-Train. Their partnership occurred during Sable's feud with Stephanie McMahon. At the Vengeance PPV, A-Train interfered in the ladies' match causing Sable to score a victory over Stephanie. Sable and A-Train were one of WWE's oddest pairings, and fans had trouble getting behind the heelish duo. Sable would accompany A-Train to the ring for several of his matches, but their partnership ended just as quickly as it began.
8 Limited Involvement In WrestleMania XIV Match
One of Sable's epic rivalries was with Luna Vachon. The two women first crossed paths in a feud between Luna's partner Goldust and Sable's husband Marc Mero. The ladies soon became involved in the storyline and their own feud. At WrestleMania XIV, the two couples faced off in a mixed tag team match. Although, Sable picked up the victory for her team, her time in the ring was limited. It was Luna, Goldust, and Mero who would put in most of the work in the match.
According to Luna, she said that during that time Sable had developed a huge ego and refused to take bumps in their match. Then following the end of their match, officials praised Sable's work, while Luna didn't receive any credit. This lead to a real-life feud between the two women.
7 Tag Team Match At WrestleMania XX
Sable and WrestleMania matches seem to be a bad combination. WrestleMania XX played host to another one of Sable's worst matches. For the grand PPV, Sable teamed with her frenemy Torrie Wilson for a tag team match against Stacy Keibler and Miss Jackie from RAW. The feud between the four women stemmed from Keibler and Jackie being jealous of Sable and Torrie's Playboy cover shoot.

From the beginning, it was obvious the match wasn't going to be good. It was originally scheduled to be an Evening Gown match, but prior to the bell ringing, all four ladies stripped down to their underwear. The match continued as is with Sable and Torrie picking up the victory. The WrestleMania XX match is considered by many to be one of the worst women's matches ever. Critics felt it was wrong for this bout to occur, while Victoria and Molly Holly had to fight to get a Women's Championship match on the PPV.
6 Nicole Bass As Her Bodyguard
By 1999, Sable had switched from babyface to heel. Sable developed a huge ego and acted like a real diva as she proclaimed women wanted to be like her. As part of her new heel persona, Sable enlisted the help of a bodyguard. At WrestleMania 15, Nicole Bass made her debut as Sable's henchwoman by helping the Women's Champion retain the title against Tori.
Bass would continue to be by Sable's side throughout the remainder of championship reign, which came to an end in May 1999. The pairing of Bass and Sable grew mixed reactions, and their partnership was cut short when Sable left WWE following her championship loss.
5 Feud With Tori
Sable has had plenty of memorable rivalries. Early in her career, her feuds with Jacqueline and Luna helped make her a star. However, there's been a couple of Sable rivalries, which turned into complete flops. One of them was her 1999 storyline with Tori. As a newcomer Tori was an obsessed Sable fan, who'd do anything for her beloved idol, including helping her retain the Women's Championship.

However, overtime Tori transitioned into a babyface and challenged Sable for the women's title. The match took place at WrestleMania XV, and was filled with lots of botches and very little bumps from Sable. At the end of the fight, Sable retained the championship with the help of Nicole Bass. Everything from the storyline to the hyped match was a letdown.
4 Triple H's Manager
Sable's WWE debut would come on the grandest stage of them all at WrestleMania 12 in March 1996. She debuted as the valet of Triple H when he was in he blueblood gimmick. After being defeated by The Ultimate Warrior, Triple H verbally berated Sable. This lead to Sable's real-life husband Marc Mero coming to her rescue, and the two would be paired together onscreen.
The incident with Triple H, Sable, and Mero made no sense to wrestling fans. Why would WWE pair Sable with Triple H if their partnership was only going to last one night? The storyline could've been pursued further instead of having Sable quickly go from being Triple H's valet to Mero's manager.
3 On-Again, Off-Again Feud With Torrie Wilson
Upon her return to WWE in April 2003, Sable immediately made Torrie Wilson her number one Target. Wilson was celebrating her recent Playboy cover when Sable began stalking and taunting the younger star. Instead of a fight, their feud lead to a bikini contest, in which Wilson came out the winner.

Less than a year later, Sable and Wilson would be friends as the two blondes posed together for Playboy. The two would also team up for a feud against Stacy Keibler and Miss Jackie. But Sable and Wilson's friendship wouldn't last long. Shortly after their WrestleMania XX match, Sable turned heel on Torrie. This time around the two women would get physical in the ring. Sable won their first bout at the Great American Bash PPV, but Wilson would be victorious in their second match.
2 Onscreen Romance With Vince McMahon
During the Attitude Era, Sable was viewed as an anti-authority figure. As a babyface, Sable went against her boss' wishes and pushed the envelope when it came to wrestling. After her four-year absence, Sable returned to WWE in 2003 as a heel.
As part of her new heel gimmick, Sable found herself cozying up to her boss Vince McMahon. The two formed an onscreen romance much to the dismay of Vince's daughter Stephanie. Sable would have several fights with Stephanie as she continued to flaunt her romance with Vince. The blonde beauty would be by Vince's side as he tried to usurp his daughter as Smackdown's General Manager. Sable's onscreen relationship with Vince would end about the same time as his feud with Stephanie came to a conclusion. Afterwards, Sable would be placed in various storylines until her departure in August 2004.
1 Losing Championship To Debra
Sable's 176 day reign as Women's Champion came to an end in May 1999. On an episode of RAW, Sable defended her title against Debra in an Evening Gown match. Sable didn't waste no time in ripping off Debra's dress and being declared the victor. However, Sable wouldn't keep her championship that night.
Shawn Michaels, who was serving as WWE's Commissioner reversed the decision. He proclaimed that the woman who lost her dress was the winner, and therefore Debra was declared the new Women's Champion. Given that Sable was on her way out at that time, it's understandable why WWE didn't want to keep the title on her. However, many fans believe having Debra dethrone Sable was the worst way for her to go out.
