Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler may find themselves in the octagon sooner than initially anticipated. Although McGregor recently declared his intention to face Chandler in a middleweight bout on June 29—an event and matchup still unconfirmed by the UFC—speculation has arisen about a potential clash at UFC 300 following discussions between the two fighters over the weekend.

The Irish sensation, frustrated by the lack of a confirmed return date, has expressed his displeasure with the situation. UFC CEO Dana White has remained tight-lipped about McGregor's comeback, with the former facing Dustin Poirier for the third time on July 10, 2021, at UFC 264. McGregor, unfortunately, lost the bout due to a technical knockout in the first round, as the ringside doctor halted the fight due to McGregor's broken tibia.

UFC 300 Still Does Not Have A Main Event

McGregor tweeted over the weekend, “McGregor on 300 seals the deal,” suggesting that he is willing to headline the historic fight card.

Chandler responded by quoting McGregor’s tweet and writing, “I accept. See you soon.”

UFC 300 is set to return to its headquarters in Las Vegas on April 13, and UFC CEO Dana White has pledged to deliver one of the most stacked and potentially unpredictable lineups in the company's history.

The first quarter of the year is already brimming with four title fights, featuring Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis contending for the middleweight title, Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Raquel Pennington vying for the vacant women’s bantamweight title at UFC 297, Alexander Volkanovski vs. Ilia Topuria in a featherweight title bout at UFC 298, and Sean O’Malley facing Marlon Vera for the bantamweight title at UFC 299.

With these high-stakes matchups already in place, the possibilities are vast for the UFC to strategically arrange potential blockbuster fights.
