In modern day WWE, managers aren’t an often-used tool. There have been years where more managers than usual have cropped up, but for the most part it is a forgotten role. In WWE, there are still a few managers here and there, though many of them are also in-ring performers too, undertaking multiple roles.

When looking at these managers, some are far better than others. Some play pivotal roles in the act of those that they manage, whereas others don’t add too much to the equation. Of course, the positives and negatives of this all come down to booking rather than the talent of those that will be mentioned.
9 Valhalla
When the former Sarah Logan returned as “Valhalla”, there was some promise for both her and the Viking Raiders. However, aside from just another body, she hasn’t added too much to the act of Erik and Ivar.
She isn’t particularly the best talker, so can’t carry them on that front. For the most part she is just at ringside with the tag team, and has yet to make a return to the ring. It is unclear if an in-ring return is an option, or if she will remain as just a manager. Either way, she is among the very worst managers in WWE right now.
8 Uncle Howdy
Is Uncle Howdy a manager? Who knows, but right now he feels like he could be some sort of manager or at least a sidekick for Bray Wyatt. Until his role becomes clearer, he will be looked at among the other managers in WWE.
The Uncle Howdy character initially looked as though he was in control of Wyatt, but those roles switched out of nowhere with Wyatt becoming the one in the head position. This whole act and gimmick has been handled poorly and feels like a mess right now.
7 Scarlett
Scarlett puts a lot into her role as Karrion Kross’ manager, and she does well to help him win matches at times. However, she hasn’t showcased any prowess on the microphone, with Kross cutting most of the promos, and her involvement with Kross hasn’t led to any prolonged success.

Their act has been a failure since returning to WWE, with a big part of this due to some poor booking. In NXT, Scarlett felt like a big deal, but on the main roster in WWE she is among the least effective managers.
6 Zelina Vega
Zelina Vega works better as a heel manager, as shown during her time alongside Andrade, and her association with Legado Del Fantasma initially looked like it was going to work in a similar way. The faction have since turned babyface, so Vega isn’t able to do what she does best on the microphone.
It is too soon to tell if this is a positive move for the group as they haven’t done too much just yet, but Vega has no doubt been a good part of their act anyway, regardless of what side of the babyface/heel divide that they are on.
5 Robert Stone
Robert Stone is NXT’s resident manager, and he has aligned with several different wrestlers on the roster over the last few years, stretching back to the black and gold days. Stone performs his role well and he is a good addition to those acts he is with. However, there have been several instances of his managerial services being very unsuccessful, and he has found it hard to nail down a long-term client in NXT.
He is still better than some managers in WWE, both in NXT and on the main roster, though he isn’t absolutely perfect. He will likely remain in NXT for quite a while.
4 Maxxine Dupri
Maxxine Dupri was brought in to take over the Maximum Male Models faction, as the former “Max Dupri” returned to his old role as LA Knight. The whole act has very good chemistry, even if the gimmick is a little too silly at times.
She has gotten better and better leading this group as the months pressed on, with the group becoming more prominent on weekly TV. She could have done with a longer spell in NXT, but she is doing a good job nonetheless.
3 Maryse
Maryse isn’t a regular part of WWE television anymore, though she occasionally pops up to be alongside her husband, The Miz, and has often been in his corner as a manager. Maryse plays this role to perfection, and has helped The Miz cheat his way to many wins over the years.
It is a shame that Maryse isn’t always alongside The Miz anymore, as she adds so much more to his act which has otherwise begun to stale recently. Even though Maryse is a former Divas Champion and wrestler, she really found her own becoming a manager for The Miz, with this being her best role.
2 MVP
MVP has become one of the best managers in WWE since his return in 2020. Not only was he a major player in the Hurt Business, but he saved Omos from obscurity.

It is hard to imagine Omos being a success without MVP as a mouthpiece, and he has done wonders to make him feel like a star and a threat. MVP could definitely be used more, with many fans wanting to see a reformed Hurt Business. Either way, MVP’s mic skills and role as a manager have been excellent.
1 Paul Heyman
Paul Heyman’s role as Roman Reigns’ “wise man” and “counsel” has been such a fantastic part of his heel run as the Tribal Chief. Heyman’s performances within storylines have showcased him to be a top tier storyteller.
Heyman is considered one of the greatest managers of all time, and it is easy to see why with his sensational mic skills and how well he can make someone look like an absolute star.
