The German soccer association has reacted to Mesut Ozil's allegations and has naturally refuted the majority of what he said.

Things are going from bad to worse for German soccer right now. The national team suffered its worst ever outing at a World Cup as the four-time winners and defending champions crashed out in the group stages. Since then, Mesut Ozil has quit international soccer following the controversy that began when he posed for a photo with the Turkish president.

Although Ozil plays his international soccer for Germany, he is also half Turkish. Prior to the World Cup starting, the aforementioned photo was posted online and the Arsenal player quickly came under fire. Since then, Ozil has claimed that he and his family have received hate mail and threatening phone calls, plus in the statement he released announcing his retirement from international soccer, he also accused certain members of the German soccer association (DFB) of racism.

Naturally, it hasn't taken long for the DFB to respond to the comments and accusations made by Ozil, and everything it had to say was reported on by Sky Sports this past Monday. "The fact that the DFB is associated with racism, we reject. For many years, the DFB has been heavily involved in integration work in Germany," read the statement from the DFB.

The DFB also wrote that itself and the German people simply wanted an explanation as to why Ozil met with and took photos alongside the Turkish president, as well as denying the claims that the midfielder has been made a scapegoat for the national team's poor showing at the World Cup. "In the DFB, we win and lose together, all as a team," the statement went on to say.

It's not unheard of for players to dip in and out of international retirement in soccer. Even Lionel Messi has done it in the past. If Ozil is going to ever play for Germany again, however, there will be a rocky road ahead and a lot of bridges to rebuild. Some very heavy accusations were made about those high up in the German DFB, things that will not be forgotten or forgiven any time soon, whether they have any truth to them or not.
