WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has shared a significant update on his contract status.

Goldberg last wrestled at the Feb. 19 WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, losing to Roman Reigns via technical submission in a Universal Championship match. Two months before the showdown, Goldberg revealed that he had just one match remaining on his WWE contract.

In an interview with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, Goldberg revealed that he is still under contract with WWE. The 55-year-old has finished all of the match obligations on his deal, but the former professional football player and wrestling icon remains keen on getting back into the squared circle.

"I’m still waiting for that one (call) to happen one of these days," Goldberg said. "But I suppose you never retire in the wrestling world until you’re dead, so who knows."

In the interview with Staszewski, Goldberg added that he was dealing with a shoulder that was "absolutely destroyed over the past four or five years." There was concern that he would have to get surgery on it, but Goldberg has spent ample time rehabbing it and doesn't expect to undergo a procedure after all.

Before his match with Reigns, Goldberg was in a feud with current United States Champion Bobby Lashley. The Almighty defeated the Hall of Famer at SummerSlam 2021, but Goldberg was able to even the score by defeating Lashley at the Crown Jewel 2021 event.

WWE Will Want Goldberg Back At Some Point

Vince McMahon still relies tremendously on part-time performers in this day and age. The Undertaker is now retired, and John Cena's busy acting schedule has greatly limited his WWE appearances over the years. Triple H is also done as a wrestler after suffering cardiac arrest which required surgery.

That essentially leaves Edge, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg as WWE's part-timers/nostalgic attractions. WWE has even given Goldberg two Universal Championship reigns in his second stint with the company, which simply goes to show just how much the promotion values him. Goldberg doesn't at all sound keen on retirement, so it's likely only a matter of time until he steps back in the ring.
