Although his plethora of ink — particularly on his face — garners plenty of attention, Post Malone admitted in an interview with GQ that he covers up out of insecurity. "I'm a ugly-a** motherf*****r," he said, noting, "I don't like how I look, so I'm going to put something cool on there so I can look at myself and say, 'You look cool, kid,' and have a modicum of self-confidence, when it comes to my appearance." The "Sunflower" hit-maker doubled down while subsequently speaking to the publication, arguing, "I feel like the face tattoos make me interesting to look at." Plus, again, his mom hates them.

Post Malone explained the designs don't necessarily have a deep meaning — rather, the rapper (real name Austin Post) simply gets whatever he feels like at the time. The sword on his face, for example, was because "I've been into them since I was a little kid." Committing to a new tattoo can take as little as two hours. As for how he looked without them, Post Malone acknowledged, "It's interesting to look back at the photos from when I had no tattoos." He added, "It's just bizarre to see. It becomes such a part of you that you don't even notice." Judging by the photo above, he'd look surprisingly businesslike.
