Kurt Angle has wrestled in more iconic matches than most, but one of the gold medalist's most famous matches is one that has fans split to this day. His brutal Street Fight with Shane McMahon at King of the Ring 2001. Despite that match likely taking years off both men's careers, and perhaps even their lives, more than 21 years later, Angle admitted he'd do it again, but for a price.
A Shane McMahon Rematch For $10 Million
The Hall of Famer discussed his WWE return in 2017 during a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show. The run began when Angle was asked to step in for Roman Reigns and act as an honorary member of The Shield at TLC. A month later, Angle wrestled again in a traditional Survivor Series match in which McMahon was on the opposite team.

It was the first time Angle and McMahon had been in the ring together since a similar match at Survivor Series 2001. That being the same year of their infamous Street Fight, Angle was asked what it would take to get him back in the ring with Shane O'Mac in 2022 or 2023. “Oh man, that’s tough. Well, that would have to be a lot of money, I’m talking ten million,” Angle said, admitting that no matter how many times they try, they'd never replicate that KOTR match.
Their Infamous Street Fight
While there were a number of spots in there that have fans peeking through their fingers when they rewatch the match to this day, the one that always comes to mind first is the suplex through the glass. Angle delivered an overhead suplex to McMahon into a pane of glass that was supposed to break. The glass didn't break so McMahon fell on his neck. Refusing to give up, the two of them did the spot again, at which point the glass, which had not been replaced with sugar glass so was harder to smash, thankfully broke.
As it stands, Angle's in-ring career came to an end at WrestleMania 35 via a loss to Baron Corbin. Angle has admitted since that he requested John Cena be his final opponent in that match, but that he would have to stick around for another year if he wanted that. Despite a reluctance to prolong his retirement back then, Angle has hinted at wrestling again almost four years later. The former WWE Champion will be on SmackDown this week to celebrate his birthday.
