Guscette was a solid defensive catcher out of high school in the 2020 class and made it to campus at Florida, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Alabama for the 2023 season. Guscette struggled to hit for average or power in the Cape Cod League during the 2022 summer, but started the year hot in 2023. He was hitting over .300 through his first 30 games of the season, but cooled off at the end and finished with a .260/.345/.479 slash line with nine home runs, a 14% strikeout rate and 7.6% walk rate. The 6-foot, 200-pound catcher caught just 19% (10-for-51) of basestealers this spring. He has near average arm strength, but has a longer arm action and a slower exchange that could be improved.
