14 Konosuke Takeshita Is Coming Into His Own

His Recent Heel Work With Don Callis Has Impressed Many

An unexpected highlight came with the heel turn of Konosuke Takeshita. He started a partnership with Don Callis and went on to feud with Kenny Omega, where the two men went on to put on some great matches.

2024 has started off great for Takeshita as he and Darby Allin put on an amazing match on Dynamite, with fans starting to really get behind Takeshita based on his in-ring skills alone.

Both Men Have Been Killing It

Both Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler had a lot to prove coming off the amazing run where the duo held the ROH, AEW, and IWGP Tag Team titles. They did quite well as they had a decent run with the AEW World Tag Team Championships after beating The Gunns on Dynamite to win the titles for the second time.

FTR failed to recapture the titles after losing them to Ricky Starks and Big Bill, and after not appearing on the AEW Worlds End card, time can only tell what is going to happen to the two men in the following year.

Made His AEW Arrival In October 2023

It was a major moment when Adam Copeland walked out after the AEW TNT Championship main event match of WrestleDream and confronted his long-time best friend, Christian Cage. Copeland and Cage would then start a feud over the AEW TNT title and saw the two participate in a match at Full Gear 2023 where Copeland teamed with Sting and Darby Allin, while Cage teamed with Killswitch (F.K.A. Luchasaurus) and Nick Wayne.

Copeland was also able to capture the AEW TNT Championship after beating Cage at AEW Worlds End, before losing the title minutes later due to Cage cashing in an opportunity Killswitch won earlier in the night.

Besides a reign as the ROH World Six-Man Tag Champ, Adam Page hasn't found much title success and instead has been back to chasing gold and trying to become a top contender. After his partnership with Keith Lee as "Swerve In Our Glory" came to an end, Swerve Strickland started to come into his own and become one of the biggest heels in All Elite Wrestling. Serving as the frontman for the Mogul Embassy, Strickland has been able to work major matches with names like Sting, Darby Allin, and Adam Page.

It would be his feud with Page that propelled Strickland into the position he is in as the two had multiple battles, including a brutal Texas Deathmatch at Full Gear 2023 where Strickland was able to pick up a huge victory over the lonesome cowboy.

Had An Amazing Run Alongside MJF

Starting 2023 off in a rough way, as his feud with Chris Jericho did not get over with the fans, Adam Cole would turn things around once he started targeting AEW World Champion MJF and the two started their months-long story.

Cole and MJF would feud over the AEW World Championship before partnering together and capturing the ROH World Tag Team titles together. After suffering an ankle injury, MJF would attempt to find replacements for Cole to defend their belts. At AEW Worlds End, Cole revealed that he was the devil that had been messing with MJF over the last few months and showcased his new stable with Roderick Strong, Wardlow, and The Kingdom.

8 Orange Cassidy Brought Prestige To The International Title

Became A Workhorse With His Championship

Focusing his year around the AEW International Championship, Orange Cassidy captured the belt from the inaugural champion PAC on the October 12th, 2022 episode of Dynamite. Cassidy went on to hold the belt for 326 days before losing it to Jon Moxley at All Out 2023 in a match that most fans believed Cassidy should have won.

Moxley would unfortunately suffer a concussion, leading to him dropping the belt to Rey Fenix and Cassidy eventually regaining the title once more. As a two-time International Champion, Cassidy has brought a lot of prestige to make the title feel important.

Now at the top of the card, Joe has promised to be the standard-bearer and prides himself as the AEW World Champion. His first title defense came at the expense of Hook, who decided it was finally time to go after the World Champion on Dynamite.

Whatever the next year holds for Moxley, fans are certain he will show out and work harder than most.

Bryan Danielson has easily stolen the show on every show he appeared in. His matches with Kazuchika Okada, Zack Sabre Jr, and MJF have made it "almost" okay that he has yet to hold a title in AEW.
