On this week's episode of WWE NXT, the scheduled match between R-Truth and Grayson Waller ended up being cut short after the 20+ year veteran looked to get injured a few minutes into the contest. Though there has been no official statement from the company on the matter, details have come out about the extent of the damage sustained by R-Truth.

R-Truth Sidelined With Believed Torn Quad
R-Truth became the latest main roster superstar to appear on NXT, with the likes of Rhea Ripley and Apollo Crews having had recent appearances on the developmental brand. Drawing the ire of Grayson Waller, a match between the two was set up for this past week's episode. Attempting a dive over the ropes, Truth landed hard and clutched his leg after the impact.
The match was stopped with Waller ruled the victor and Truth was assisted to the back. As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, although there had been no official confirmation by the newsletter's press time, 'the belief was that he tore his quad'. Truth, now aged 50, has been a consistent and reliable performer for the WWE for over a decade now, especially considering his age. But, a torn quad could be disastrous for the former NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

How Serious Is A Torn Quad?
Whilst there is no indication on just how badly torn Truth's quadriceps are, it has the potential to sideline him for a substantial amount of time. A torn quad is the same injury that Triple H suffered in May 2001, ruling him out for eight months and missing essentially all the Invasion angle, returning in January 2002.
A torn quad is a very serious injury, and whilst many have been able to come back and keep performing to their previous level, Truth's age does raise some red flags. Whilst he has kept himself in phenomenal shape throughout his career, wrestling a very athletic style, and otherwise looking great for his age, the human body does heal differently as we get up in years. Whilst we are yet to hear from Truth himself or any official release, fans can only hope that Truth makes a full and speedy recovery.
