It seems any plans AEW might have had to bring in The Briscoes will either have to wait or are completely off. It's not clear how close, if at all, AEW was to bringing them in, but plans have changed thanks to AEW's television network partner WarnerMedia.

Rumors suggested Tony Khan had plans to bring them into the fold after ROH advised all talents that their contracts would be terminated, but despite the buzz of The Briscoes wrestling teams like FTR, their arrival to AEW never materialized. Fightful is reporting The Briscoes won't be AEW bound. They write that, even before AEW purchased ROH, All Elite Wrestling wasn't adding the duo to their tag team ranks. They also confirmed that a source from WarnerMedia said someone with real influence told AEW not to go there. That person did not want The Briscoes signed, due mainly to Jay Briscoe's homophobic tweets from 2013.

The Briscoes

Since his remarks, The Briscoes are rumored to have been model employees, and a public apology was issued but one AEW talent said they can't blame WarnerMedia or AEW for not wanting to take a chance there could be significant backlash.

What About Ring of Honor?

Now that Khan and AEW own ROH, it's not clear what this means for The Briscoes. They are the current ROH Tag Team Champions, and they were scheduled to wrestle on Supercard of Honor before Tony Khan's purchase of the company. Fightful says it's not clear if they are still going to be on the show. We don't have an update on where that stands now. They are currently still listed on the card that FITE TV has promoting the show.

If they are removed from the show, that doesn't bode well for their future with AEW and any partners that work with AEW.
